Pamela  McCorduck

(미국 저널리스트 1940~)

Pamela McCorduck 은 1974년부터 1975년에 걸쳐 인공지능 (Artificial Intelligence) 의 여러 연구원들과 인터뷰를 가졌다. National Endowment for the Humanities 의 후원으로 이루어진 그 인터뷰의 결과로서 그녀의 유명한 저서인 Machines Who Think: A Personal Inquiry into the History and Prospects of Artificial Intelligence (San Francisco: W.H. Freeman and Company, 1979) 가 탄생하였다. 그는 36 명의 과학자와 인터뷰를 수행하였으며 그들은 Paul Armer, Alex Bernstein, W.W. Bledsoe, Ted Brain, Bruce Buchanan, Max Clowes, L. Stephen Coles, Hubert Dreyfus, Edward Feigenbaum, Julian Feldman, Edward Fredkin, Herbert Gelernter, I.J. Good, Leon Harmon, John McCarthy, Donald MacKay, Donald Mitchie, Marvin Minsky, Joel Moses, Allen Newell, Nils Nilsson, Seymour Papert, Bertram Raphael, Raj Reddy, Nathaniel Rochester, Charles Rosen, Arthur Samuel, Oliver Selfridge, Claude Shannon, J.C. Shaw, Herbert A. Simon, James Slagle, Ray Solomonoff, Fred Tonge, Joseph Weizenbaum, Lofti Zadeh 등이다 (참조 : pioneers). 그 인터뷰를 통해 각 과학자들이 AI 에 기여한 것을 알수있다. 또한 AI 의 역사와 현재 (1979년) 그리고 미래의 진화를 추적한다.

그녀는 University of California at Berkeley 에서 학위를 받았고 Columbia University 에서 MFA 를 받았다. 그가 인터뷰를 시도하는 중에는 English Department at the University of Pittsburgh 에 재직했었다. 그녀는 많은 저서와 기사를 썼지만, 그중 많은 것이 컴퓨터의 지능적 능력, 특히 AI 와 관련된 것이다.
